Economist Carlos Rodríguez Braun warned about the persistence of inflation and the risks of public debt during an event focused on private banking in Jaén.

Economist Carlos Rodríguez Braun has indicated that inflation will continue to be a key challenge for savers and investors in the coming years. His remarks were made during the seminar ‘Private Banking, Looking Out For You’, organized by Caja Rural de Jaén at the Jaén Trade and Congress Centre (Ifeja).
Addressing clients, entrepreneurs, and professionals, Rodríguez Braun emphasized the need for increasing attention to savings management and financial planning. "We have to get used to inflation being with us," he stated, reviewing the main short- and long-term economic risks. He linked this situation to the high public debt and fiscal imbalances in many Western economies, warning that protecting assets will be a central concern for families and businesses.

There is a lot of economic potential. Sometimes the trees of politics prevent us from seeing the real forest behind them, which is the forest of companies and workers.

Despite the challenges, the economist presented an optimistic view of the Spanish economy, highlighting the strength of its productive fabric. He underscored the role of entrepreneurs and workers as true engines of economic growth and cautioned against the risks of interventionism, protectionism, and rising public debt. He summarized his message with the phrase: "You don't need money to save; you need to save to have money."
The event was inaugurated by the president of Caja Rural de Jaén, Juan Núñez, who highlighted the entity's commitment to providing specialized financial knowledge to its clients. For his part, the general director, Fernando Planelles, illustrated the impact of inflation by comparing it to a "mouse that eats our money," noting that accumulated inflation over five years could be around 25%, representing a significant loss for immobilized funds.
Francisco Valcárcel, head of Business Banking at Caja Rural de Jaén, discussed the growing complexity of wealth management amidst increased life expectancy and a wider range of investment alternatives, emphasizing the value of professional advice. Arantza Loínaz, director of Private Banking at Banco Cooperativo Español, analyzed investment opportunities and reiterated how inflation silently erodes the savings of those who keep their assets in liquidity.
