The exams for the Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) degree, with 432 registered, represent a crucial opportunity for individuals over 18 years old seeking to obtain this basic educational qualification. This certificate will allow them to continue their academic training at higher levels such as Baccalaureate or Vocational Training Cycles.
The Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training annually organizes two calls, in April and June, designed to offer a second chance to those who prematurely left their studies or were unable to receive an education at the time. For the organization of these exams, which span morning and afternoon sessions, two evaluation committees have been established.
The ESO exams cover content from the adult education stage, structured into three areas: Scientific-Technological, Social, and Communication. It is essential to pass all three to obtain the degree. However, the grades for passed areas are retained and are valid throughout the national territory, allowing candidates to retake only the failed parts in future calls. Those who have previously completed and passed specific subjects or areas in ESO, either under the general regime or for adults, will be exempt from the corresponding exams according to established equivalences.
After the conclusion of the April 11 exams, a new application period will open from April 13 to May 4 for the June 2026 call, which will take place on June 20.
Regarding the exams for obtaining the Baccalaureate degree, aimed at individuals over 20 years old, the first day takes place on April 11, and the second on April 18. A total of 53 people in the province of Jaén are participating in this call, for which one evaluation committee has been established.
Candidates will be examined on common subjects, modality-specific subjects, and optional subjects, covering the different branches of Baccalaureate: Humanities and Social Sciences, Sciences and Technology, General, and Arts (in its Plastic Arts, Image and Design, and Music and Performing Arts pathways). The objective of these exams is to facilitate access to an official academic qualification for Andalusians, promoting their reincorporation into the educational system to complete their training. The Ministry organizes an annual call, divided into two sessions, and allows passed subjects to be carried over for future opportunities.
