Under the slogan 'Business in healthcare, more mortality', the protest will begin at 12:00 PM from the Plaza de las Batallas. The organization has warned about the "structural emergency" facing the public healthcare system in Jaén.
The situation in Primary Care has been described as "alarming," with delays of ten to fifteen days for an appointment with a general practitioner. This circumstance, according to the platform, forces patients to overwhelm hospital emergency rooms or seek private care if they can afford it.
Primary Care has ceased to be primary because it does not respond in time. This forces patients to saturate hospital emergencies or go to private care if they can afford it.
The scenario at the Hospital Universitario de Jaén and other hospitals in the province is no better, with waiting lists for external consultations and diagnostic tests, such as ultrasounds or MRIs, exceeding legal guarantee limits. The platform emphasized that "we are talking about people with serious pathologies waiting months for a first consultation, a time that is vital for health."
This "collapse" is attributed to a "lack of investment and poor working conditions," which has made Jaén the Andalusian province with the lowest capacity to retain new doctors. It was noted that, with 80% of MIR positions rejected in the last call, generational replacement in Jaén's healthcare system is at "critical risk."
It is not just a matter of management; it is a model that seeks to weaken public services to favor private business. The waiting list data in Jaén proves that our healthcare system is being allowed to die.
