Despite the adverse weather conditions, public interest in Jaén for the meeting with the writer was remarkable. The courtyard of the Arab Baths Cultural Center was completely filled during the closing of the X Literature Classroom of the National University of Distance Education (UNED). This event was supported by the Jaén City Council, the Provincial Council, and the Unicaja Foundation, and coincided with the celebration of the Book Fair in the capital.
The Jaén-born author was received by municipal and provincial representatives. During the event, the writer expressed his surprise at the excellent reception of his works and his recent public appearances in various cities across the country, such as Granada and Asturias. He confessed that, despite the intense promotional pace, returning to Jaén and meeting his readers is always a pleasure.
Accompanied by a UNED specialist, the writer discussed the international success of his work La península de las casas vacías, which has already been translated into more than fifteen languages and, as he announced, will be adapted into an audiovisual format for a future series. The discussion also revolved around La ciudad de las luces muertas, a novel awarded the Premio Nadal, whose impact has definitively consolidated his national projection.
“"Returning to Jaén and meeting his readers continues to be a pleasure."
The City Council highlighted the value of initiatives like the UNED Literature Classroom, which bring authors closer to the public in a more intimate and accessible format. Throughout its editions, this series has featured the participation of prominent literary figures.
Born in Úbeda in 1990, the writer combines his literary career with music, drawing, and the translation and interpretation of several languages. His recent trajectory has been marked by the success of La península de las casas vacías, a work that has received accolades such as the Cálamo Award for Best Book of the Year 2024, the Andalucía Critics' Award, the Espartaco Award for Best Historical Novel, and the Dulce Chacón Award, among other literary recognitions.
