These actions, promoted by the Ministry of Development, Territorial Articulation and Housing, primarily seek to ensure adequate safety and comfort for users, as well as to correct and optimize the structural characteristics of the most deteriorated sections of Jaén's road network.
The planning for these works is based on a comprehensive analysis of the conservation status of regional roads, which has allowed for precise identification of intervention needs across different points of the province and ensures proper execution of pavement layers.
The total investment of 17.5 million euros has been divided into two lots. The first, valued at seven million euros, has been awarded to a UTE and will cover the North and Southeast areas of the province. The second lot, with a budget of 10.5 million euros, has been assigned to another UTE and will focus on the West and South areas.
The planned interventions encompass a wide range of technical actions aimed at pavement rehabilitation. These include repairing soft spots and potholes, milling and subsequent replacement of existing pavement, as well as restoring the subgrade and lower pavement layers when necessary. Bituminous mixtures will also be applied, pavements sealed to prevent future leaks and deterioration, and horizontal signage repainted to improve visibility and road safety. Additionally, the replacement or elevation of containment elements and the repair of expansion joints in structures are included.
These contracts have an estimated duration of seven months, with the possibility of extension, which would allow for an increase in both investment and the number of road sections to be improved. The Junta de Andalucía emphasizes the importance of these works to maintain the road network in optimal conditions, given the impact of heavy traffic and climatic conditions that accelerate pavement wear.
