The Jaén Provincial Council approved on Monday, April 6, an investment exceeding 26 million euros for the province's municipalities, aimed at funding public works, services, and repairing the devastation left by recent storm systems.

During the plenary session, the Provincial Plan for Cooperation in Municipal Works and Services, endowed with 16.16 million euros, received approval. Additionally, a specific plan of 10 million euros was sanctioned to assist municipalities in mitigating damages caused by the winter storms, as part of the Shock Plan.
The second vice-president and deputy for Economy, Finance, Municipal Assistance, and Human Resources, Pilar Parra, detailed these allocations, which were on the agenda for the ordinary session. Credit modifications totaling over 53.4 million euros were also approved.
Of the 16.16 million euros comprising the Provincial Plan for Works and Services, Jaén's city councils will allocate 11.67 million euros to cover services and 4.49 million euros to public works. This plan will be supplemented by a specific one for Autonomous Local Entities (ELAs) with their own budgets, amounting to 324,000 euros.

"Each town council will receive 100,000 euros in aid to mitigate the damages from the storm system recorded this winter."

Pilar Parra · Deputy for Finance
Regarding the 10 million euro plan for storm damages, each town council will receive 100,000 euros. ELAs with responsibilities for rural roads will also receive the same amount, while those without such responsibilities will get 25,000 euros. These subsidies will fund actions carried out between November 10, 2025, and December 31, 2027, with a deadline for justification set for March 31, 2028.
In addition to the more than 26 million euros approved for municipalities, the plenary session also approved an extra 25.5 million euros for the improvement of provincially owned infrastructure affected by the storms. Other credit modifications approved in this session include 80,000 euros for the Guardia Civil Academy in Baeza, 200,000 euros for hiring young people in municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants through the Talentium Empresa program, and 214,000 euros to finance 12% of the Beas de Segura Town Council's contribution to the rehabilitation of its local castle, a project benefiting from the 2% Cultural fund.
