Jaén's Women's Table Tennis Teams Aim for European Glory in the Europe Trophy

Two clubs from the province of Jaén are competing in Serbia to become the first Spanish team to win this prestigious continental tournament.

The teams Cliniqas.com and Hujase Jaén Paraíso Interior, both from the province of Jaén, are preparing for a historic weekend in Niš, Serbia, where they will compete in the Europe Trophy with the goal of becoming the first Spanish club to lift this continental trophy.

The Europe Trophy, organized by the European Table Tennis Union (ETTU), is one of the most exciting club competitions on the continent. The Grand Finals will bring together the eight best-qualified teams from the regional phases, held in January, and will feature a prominent representation from Jaén.
The tournament will take place from Friday, April 24, to Sunday, April 26, with a format that includes a group stage and direct elimination rounds. Matches will be decided in a best-of-five singles format, with special rules in the fifth set to speed up play. The eight participating teams have been divided into two groups of four, from which the semi-finalists and, ultimately, the champion will emerge.
Cliniqas.com has been drawn in Group B alongside STK Josip Kolumbo (Serbia), AEK Athletic Club (Greece), and ASD Tennistavolo Norbello Blu (Italy). Meanwhile, Hujase Jaén Paraíso Interior will compete in Group A against Panathinaikos A.C. (Greece), TTV Gartenstadt Tulln (Austria), and ASD Tennistavolo Norbello (Italy). This distribution promises balanced and high-level matchups.
The Linares team, Cliniqas.com, faces significant challenges, including the host STK Josip Kolumbo, a multiple-time Serbian runner-up. AEK Athletic Club from Greece, part of the historic AEK Athens institution, and ASD Tennistavolo Norbello Blu from Italy, which competes in the national Serie A1, complete a demanding group. Cliniqas.com's main goal is to advance to the semifinals and contend for the title.
Hujase Jaén Paraíso Interior, arriving as the second-ranked team in the Women's Superdivision, relies on its full squad, although the participation of one of its key players is uncertain due to discomfort. The team boasts a world-class player capable of deciding ties on her own, and other fundamental players for the team's balance. Their rivals in Group A include Panathinaikos AC, considered one of the most complete teams in the tournament, as well as TTV Gartenstadt Tulln and ASD Tennistavolo Norbello.
This edition of the Europe Trophy will not only crown a champion but also award valuable points for the European club ranking, influencing future qualifications for competitions such as the Europe Cup. Both Jaén clubs aim to make history and consolidate their upward trajectory in European table tennis.
