The proposal by the Popular Party, initially promoted during their previous term, includes the construction of a four-star hotel and an underground car park with capacity for over 200 vehicles. Additionally, it envisions cultural, sports, and leisure spaces, aiming for a comprehensive revitalization of the area.
“"This action would not only resolve the current deterioration but also generate employment, attract tourism, offer new options for young people, and contribute to revitalizing commerce and the center of Jaén."
González highlighted the advanced state of decay of the station, a key entry point for visitors to the city. He noted that the facade shows peeling paint, the window sills are damaged, and the metal structures of the doors exhibit clear signs of oxidation, presenting a negative image to those arriving in Jaén.
The popular spokesperson also recalled that this initiative was part of a broader plan for urban center revitalization, which included interventions funded by EDIL European funds in areas such as Plaza de la Constitución, Parque de la Concordia, and Avenida de Madrid. He expressed regret that, a year and a half after its presentation, no project for this crucial space has been put into motion.
