The decision to incorporate Juan Eslava Galán's name into Jaén's IPEP, formalized in February after its publication in the BOJA, stems from a desire to give the institute a distinct personality. As explained by Tomás Mateo, the center's director, this initiative follows the example of other provincial permanent education institutes in Andalusia that have sought to differentiate themselves.
“"It is the best award I could have received in my life. It means so much. As a writer, I should have words, but I cannot find them to express my gratitude for this distinction from my province, which I love so much."
The author from Arjona, visibly moved, extended the tribute to an entire generation of teachers, many of whom are now retired, who have faced constant changes in the educational system. He emphasized the importance of perseverance and the ability to reinvent oneself, values that, according to him, are embodied by the adult students of the center.
The Regional Minister of Educational Development and Vocational Training, María del Carmen Castillo, also joined the recognition, highlighting the value of the tribute for both Eslava Galán and the Andalusian educational system. She underscored the work of the IPEPs in Andalusia, which allow anyone to update and train throughout their lives, and described Juan Eslava Galán as the ideal name for the institution due to his continuous literary production and his divulgative capacity.
For the educational team, the choice of Juan Eslava Galán represents the fundamental values of constant work, self-improvement, and commitment that they wish to transmit to their students. They consider him a clear reference and a figure who has proudly carried the name of the province.
