Promoted by Lolitario Teatro and the training center 'El sutil arte de las artes escénicas', under the direction of Manuel Sutil, the cycle is supported by the Patronato de Cultura, Turismo, Fiestas y Patrimonio Histórico del Ayuntamiento de Jaén. The proposal merges recognized professional productions with the final showcases of the school's students, covering genres such as theater, improvisation, musicals, and contemporary dance.
“"The commitment to culture and innovation of this great young man from Jaén who has managed to position himself and Jaén at the forefront of dramatic art."
Mila Collado, manager of the Patronato, highlighted the institution's commitment to transforming Jaén into a launching pad for local creators and a meeting point for new opportunities. She noted that Lolitario Teatro was recognized in 2024 as one of the 50 most innovative cultural companies in Andalusia.
The 'Sutilezas' program is diverse and begins on May 9 with Anonymes, one of Lolitario Teatro's most acclaimed works. It will continue with an improvisation showcase in collaboration with the ImprOlive association and an inaugural gala featuring pieces created by the students. In the following weeks, Prodigiosa, another of the company's reference productions; Scroll; the musical Shrek; Entre tinieblas, an adaptation of Pedro Almodóvar's text; and La vieja escuela will be performed. The cycle will conclude with a dance group performance, bringing to a close a program of unprecedented breadth and diversity in the Jaén scene. Tickets are available at www.giglon.com.
During the presentation, Manuel Sutil also unveiled 'Micelia', a new contemporary dance collective primarily formed by young people from Jaén who trained at the Conservatorio de Danza de Granada, including Nerea Lambert and Emilio López. This collective emerged from the need of young artists to express themselves and create a collaborative space, presenting its first piece, Solastalgia. This work explores the feeling of loss of home associated with the social and environmental changes of the 21st century, especially climate change, and originated as a choreographic project that has evolved into a broader artistic proposal.
Sutil emphasized the multidisciplinary nature of the school he directs, which integrates training in poetry, dubbing, improvisation, and contemporary dance, establishing itself as a pioneering space in Jaén where various arts converge during a particularly favorable cultural moment for the city.
