A local business group has presented a proposal to develop a three-level underground parking facility under the maneuvering area and platforms of the Jaén bus station. The initiative, which will not alter the main station building, plans for a capacity of 352 vehicles and the inclusion of storage units, with an estimated investment of 3.6 million euros.
Access and exit to the facilities will be from Calle Santo Reino and Avenida de Madrid, ensuring the continuity of the bus station's operations. This new service is conceived as an essential complement to the future Rey Fernando hotel, providing rental and rotation parking spaces in the city center.
Mayor Julio Millán highlighted the investors' interest in the capital and indicated that the project will be executed through a public land concession. The Urban Planning and Heritage departments of the City Council are working on the details of this initiative, which is expected to be well-received by residents and visitors.
Millán emphasized that parking availability is crucial for the recovery and opening of the Rey Fernando hotel. In total, the area could see an investment exceeding 10 million euros, including other actions such as the renovation of the Plaza de la Constitución with European funds, which will boost local commerce and businesses.
The mayor also recalled other business initiatives promoted by the government team, such as the glamping project in Valdeastillas, the senior residence in El Valle, and the hospital center in El Bulevar, strategies that have favored job creation and investment in the city.
