This new configuration of the public transport service in Jaén represents one of the main innovations in the general reorganization previously announced. Line 17 will integrate the routes of the former Lines 14, 17, and 20, offering broader and more efficient coverage.
The primary objective of this modification is to establish more direct connections between strategic points in the city, such as the Neurotraumatológico Hospital, the University of Jaén, the Jaén Plaza shopping center, Avenida de Andalucía, and the Fuente del Alamillo area. This route aims to optimize daily commutes, reducing the need for transfers.
Regarding frequency, from Monday to Friday, the service will start at 6:30 AM from the hospital and end at 10:20 PM. The estimated travel time will be approximately 65 minutes, with frequencies ranging between 20 and 25 minutes. On Saturdays, the start and end times will remain the same, although the route is estimated to take 60 minutes, with frequencies of 60 minutes in the morning and increasing to 30 minutes from 2:30 PM onwards.
As an additional adjustment, the current 1:30 PM reinforcement for this line will be eliminated, replaced by three partial services of Line 7 between the University and Plaza de la Libertad at 1:30 PM, 2:00 PM, and 2:30 PM on school days. This update is part of a broader package of measures promoted by the City Council and the concessionaire company ALSA, aimed at improving the efficiency of public transport and strengthening connectivity in areas with high user volume.
“"This definition of the route and frequencies responds to a technical analysis of passenger flows and demands expressed by citizens."
