The Jaén City Council has launched a special cleaning operation to remove accumulated wax from the streets following the Easter Week processions, utilizing high-pressure machinery and dedicated staff.

The city of Jaén has intensified its efforts to restore public thoroughfares to normality after Easter Week. The City Council, through the concessionary company FCC, has deployed a special cleaning operation focused on removing wax residue from the processional routes.
Francisco Lechuga, Councillor for the Economic Area and Concessionary Companies, detailed that the operation has already covered main streets such as Muñoz Garnica, Cerón, and Bernabé Soriano. Currently, work is concentrated in emblematic areas including Maestra Street, Campanas, and Santa María Square.
According to forecasts, if weather conditions permit, cleaning efforts will extend to Carrera de Jesús and Almenas Street starting this Wednesday. Subsequently, cleaning will be reinforced in cobblestone areas such as Bernabé Soriano, Roldán y Marín, and Tablerón. For these tasks, scrubbing machines and high-pressure hot water washers are being used, which effectively remove wax from both roadways and pedestrian zones.

"The objective is to completely eliminate wax residues and leave all affected streets in optimal condition."

Teams are working in morning and afternoon shifts, although the councillor warned that the operation's progress could be affected by rain forecasts starting Wednesday. Lechuga also urged citizens to exercise caution, as the combination of rain and wax can make pavements slippery, assuring that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicles.
