The city of Jaén is the setting for the second eliminatory round of the 67th Jaén International Piano Competition, where nineteen young talents from ten countries compete to advance in this prestigious event.

The Teatro Infanta Leonor is hosting today and tomorrow the second eliminatory phase of the 67th Jaén International Piano Competition. A total of 19 pianists, selected from 48 applicants from four continents, face this decisive stage of the competition organized by the Provincial Council of Jaén.
The performers, hailing from countries such as Spain (Laura Ballestrino, Germán García Pérez, Miguel Iglesias Lista), France (Tom Carré, Arthur Gautier, Ionah Maiatsky), Belgium (Anaïs Cassiers), China (Zheng Chen, Yang Gao, Jingyi He), Italy (Ruggiero Fiorella), Japan (Ayumu Ibaraki, Yusuke Suzuki), Australia (Herman Harrison), South Korea (Hyelim Kim, Taegyu Kim, Hyojin Shin), Taiwan (Pin-Hong Lin), and Israel (Alexandra Segal), will have a maximum of 50 minutes for their performance.
During this round, contestants must perform the commissioned work for this edition, titled Tres morillas m'enamoran, composed by Alberto Carretero. Additionally, the execution of a sonata by classical composers such as Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, or Schubert is mandatory, along with a piece of Spanish music to be chosen from works by Albéniz (Iberia or Navarra), Falla (Fantasía Bética or Cuatro Piezas Españolas), or Granados (a work from Goyescas).
The interpretation of this repertoire will be crucial for the awarding of two special prizes: the Contemporary Music prize, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, and the 'Rosa Sabater' prize, sponsored by the Jaén City Council, both endowed with 6,000 euros. Following this phase, the semifinalists who will participate in the third round, focusing on chamber music with the Cuarteto Cosmos, will be announced for Wednesday and Thursday at the Nuevo Teatro Infanta Leonor.
The competition will conclude on Saturday with the grand final, where the three qualified pianists will perform accompanied by the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Salvador Vázquez. Tickets for this final event are already available for ten euros through the platform www.eventick.es.
