The Municipal Historical Archive of Jaén is celebrating International Archives Day with the launch of its new logo, a visual identity designed to modernize its corporate image while preserving its historical essence. This new design symbolizes the bridge between the documentary past and citizen access in the 21st century.
As part of the commemoration, starting tomorrow, the social media channels of the Municipal Historical Archive, on Facebook and Instagram (@archivohistoricomunicipal), will showcase documents from early 20th-century archivists. Personal files of Ángel Nieto Gutiérrez (1903) and Fernando de los Ríos Valdivia (1905) will be featured, offering a firsthand look at how this profession was carried out in past eras.
“"The Archive is an indispensable guardian of Jaén's memory and identity. From the Municipal Culture Board, we manage this wonderful institution with great care, bringing our rich documentary heritage closer to the people of Jaén."
The Councillor for Culture, María Espejo, highlighted the Archive's role as "an indispensable guardian of Jaén's memory and identity," located in the emblematic Moneo building of the Bank of Spain. She emphasized that the Municipal Culture Board manages "this wonderful institution with great care, bringing our rich documentary heritage closer to the people of Jaén."
The councillor recalled established projects such as the Document of the Month series, which periodically brings unique historical pieces to the public, and the initiative The Archive Tells You, which displays historical documents from the archive in a showcase in the municipal building's hall. This exhibition has featured 14th-century documents on carnival, images of royal visits to the city, and documents from the documentary heritage within the framework of Jaén's 1,200th anniversary as a capital.
