The event, organized by the Provincial Association of Bookstores and Stationers of Jaén, presents its most ambitious edition to date, featuring 103 authors and a total of 134 activities. These include book signings, presentations, storytelling sessions, round tables, workshops, and magic shows, spread across 30 exhibitor booths, a record number of participants.
A significant highlight of this edition is the strong local presence: 52 of the 103 scheduled authors, representing 50.4%, are from the province of Jaén. They are joined by 47 writers from the rest of Spain and 4 from abroad. The program aims to combine local talent with more prominent literary figures.
“"This extensive presence of local authors is perfectly complemented by the more media-savvy authors who will be at the Fair."
The fair will open on Friday, May 8, with an inaugural address by writer Luz Gabás. Among the most anticipated events, on Sunday, May 10, local writer David Uclés will present his novel La ciudad de las luces muertas, winner of the Nadal Prize 2026, at the Arab Baths of Jaén.
The cultural offering is diverse, with 18 children's activities including storytelling and comic workshops. For adults, the program includes meetings with national-level authors, round tables, theatrical re-enactments of Miguel Hernández, and poetry recitals. The University of Jaén will also have a significant presence with presentations of works from its publishing house.
The organization has implemented a QR code system on printed programs to keep activity information updated, due to potential last-minute changes in authors' schedules. The fair is supported by the Jaén City Council, the Provincial Council, the Junta de Andalucía, and the University of Jaén, among other institutions and sponsors.
