The exams for the Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) Graduate degree, with 432 registered, are designed for individuals over 18 years old seeking to obtain this fundamental qualification. This achievement will allow them to advance to higher educational levels, such as Baccalaureate or Vocational Training Cycles. The Regional Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training organizes two annual calls, in April and June, to facilitate this opportunity.
Conceived as a second chance, these assessments are aimed at those who prematurely abandoned their studies or were unable to receive an education at the time. For the exam day, which spans the morning and afternoon, two evaluation committees have been established.
The exams cover the content of Compulsory Secondary Education for adults, structured into three areas: Scientific-Technological, Social, and Communication. To obtain the degree, all three exams must be passed. However, the grades for successfully completed areas are retained and are valid throughout the national territory, allowing candidates to retake only the failed parts in future calls.
Those who have previously studied and passed specific subjects or areas in ESO, either under the general regime or for adults, may be exempt from taking the corresponding exams, according to established equivalences. After the conclusion of the April 11 exams, a new registration period will open from April 13 to May 4 for the June 2026 call, with the exam taking place on the 20th of that month.
Regarding the Baccalaureate degree exams, intended for individuals over 20 years old, the first day is also held this Saturday, April 11, and will continue on Saturday, April 18. In the province of Jaén, 53 people are participating in this call, for which one evaluation committee has been formed.
Candidates will be examined on common subjects, modality-specific subjects, and optional subjects from the different Baccalaureate branches: Humanities and Social Sciences, Sciences and Technology, General, and Arts (in its Plastic Arts, Image and Design, and Music and Performing Arts pathways). The objective is to facilitate access to an official academic qualification for Andalusians, promoting their reincorporation into the educational system to complete their higher education. The Regional Ministry organizes one annual Baccalaureate call, divided into two days. Passed subjects are retained for future calls, and those who have already passed any subject in Baccalaureate or equivalent education will be exempt from part of the exams.
