The final of the XX National Flamenco Guitar Competition for Young Interpreters transformed the chapel of Jaén's Arab Baths into a flamenco epicenter. This event, already established in the national flamenco calendar, serves as a platform for emerging Spanish guitar talent.
Organized with the support of the Provincial Council of Jaén and the collaboration of the Peña Flamenca de Jaén, the competition brought together 16 young guitarists from various provinces. The jury, composed of prominent flamenco and musicology figures, highlighted the high artistic level of the finalists and the unanimity in their deliberations.
The top award, endowed with 3,000 euros, went to the 24-year-old guitarist from Granada, whose performance of a rondeña and a zambra impressed with its technical precision, clean interpretation, and deep flamenco sensibility. His mastery of rhythm and rich sound captivated both the jury and the audience.
The second prize, of 2,000 euros, was awarded to a 23-year-old from Málaga, whose execution of rondeña and bulería stood out for its expressive power and artistic solidity. The third prize, of 1,000 euros, went to a 28-year-old from Madrid, who offered granaínas and a soleá por bulerías full of maturity and understanding of the flamenco language.
The evening, hosted by a flamenco journalist and popularizer, culminated with a special performance by an Extremaduran guitarist, winner of this same competition in 2003. His emotional return to the competition, which marked the beginning of his brilliant career, served as a golden finale to an evening that celebrated the future of flamenco guitar.
“"The enormous talent, freshness, and commitment to tradition of this new generation of guitarists."
