A major anti-drug operation, carried out by the Civil Guard in the province of Jaén, has culminated in the dismantling of a criminal group. This network was dedicated to distributing narcotic substances in the regions of Sierra de Segura and Las Villas. The intervention, conducted on April 17, 2026, represents a significant blow to an organization that had generated considerable social alarm among residents of the affected municipalities.
Agents from the Jaén Command executed six simultaneous home searches: four in Beas de Segura and two in Villanueva del Arzobispo. As a result, five individuals, aged between 25 and 45, all residents of the aforementioned localities and alleged perpetrators of drug trafficking offenses, were arrested. Four of the detainees were remanded in provisional prison by order of the Villacarrillo Court of First Instance number 1.
The prior investigation revealed a hierarchical criminal structure with clearly defined roles. The main suspect directed and coordinated the other members. One of the implicated individuals was responsible for the custody, transport, and distribution of the drugs, while the others acted as points of sale, supplying cocaine directly to end consumers. This organization allowed the group to maintain continuous and relatively discreet activity, making detection difficult.
During the searches, over 500 grams of cocaine and 8 kilograms of marijuana were seized, the latter in the drying phase and ready for distribution. An indoor marijuana cultivation plantation, in its final commercialization stage, was also dismantled. In addition to the drugs, agents confiscated 20,000 euros in cash, precision scales, tools for drug dosage and preparation, several vehicles, mobile phones, and agricultural machinery of illicit origin, allegedly stolen and used as currency for drug payments.
The Civil Guard has reported that the investigation remains open, and further arrests are not ruled out. This operation has successfully eliminated three active sales points that, according to official sources, were causing significant social alarm in the regions of Sierra de Segura and Las Villas.
