The notion that 'there's nothing in Jaén' is a myth that content creator Ángel Cantero of 'Lavín qué historia' aims to dismantle. Through a video, Cantero presents a wide array of activities and places to enjoy during the summer in the province of Jaén, challenging the perception of summer boredom.
The video begins with a humorous portrayal of complaints about the heat and lack of options, then contrasts it with numerous proposals. Among these are 'inland beaches,' such as Tamujoso beach in Baños de la Encina or Encinarejo beach in Andújar, the latter having been awarded the Blue Flag. Other aquatic paradises mentioned include Charco de la Pringue, Mogón natural pool, the Río Frío Gorges, and the La Bolera Reservoir.
Cantero also suggests museums as 'climate refuges' and cultural centers. The Villardompardo Palace is highlighted, housing the largest and best-preserved Arab Baths in Europe, along with the Museum of Popular Arts and Customs and the Naïf Art Museum. Other recommended visits include the Iberian Museum, the Provincial Museum, and the Zabaleta-Miguel Hernández Museum.
The province of Jaén is presented as a historically significant setting, the birthplace of three crucial battles for Europe: the Battle of Baecula, the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa, and the Battle of Bailén. Visiting the Museum of the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa in Santa Elena and the Bailén museum, dedicated to the victory against Napoleonic troops, is suggested.
Finally, the video promotes astrotourism, emphasizing that the province of Jaén boasts the largest area declared as a Starlight Astronomical Reserve in the world. Sierra Morena and the village of Don Domingo in Sierra de Segura are examples of these sites, offering a unique nocturnal spectacle.
