With over two decades of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and a background in Biology, an executive producer has reoriented his career towards social cinema. His goal is to promote audiovisual projects that not only highlight rare diseases but also foster public health awareness. His first work, the film La vida en una gota (Life in a Drop), which addresses the relevance of neonatal screening, was pre-selected for the Goya Awards with 12 entries.
“"It's an uncomfortable film, yes, but above all, it's revealing. It shows a reality that many people are unaware of. And it's how a simple test can change the life of a child and their entire family."
The film highlights the importance of a seemingly simple test, a drop of blood, which can detect pathologies capable of marking a child's life and their family's future. The producer stresses that a lack of political will and social unawareness are the main obstacles to expanding neonatal screening, beyond economic considerations.
The project has received significant support, including interest from Queen Letizia, which the producer considers the highest recognition. Since its premiere in 2024, the film has been screened at numerous national and international festivals, touring Spain, several European countries, and Latin America, with weekly screenings.
“"I am convinced that cinema can change everything, including laws."
The producer emphasizes the transformative power of audiovisual media and communication to modify social perception and drive legislative changes. Furthermore, he calls for an end to pitying glances towards people with illnesses or disabilities, advocating for equal treatment.
