The contestants, hailing from Spain (Laura Ballestrino), Belgium (Anaïs Cassiers), Italy (Ruggiero Fiorella), Japan (Ayumu Ibaraki and Yusuke Suzuki), and Israel (Alexandra Segal), face a crucial test. Their performance with the Cuarteto Cosmos will be decisive in selecting the winner of the Chamber Music prize, valued at 8,000 euros and sponsored by the Universidad Internacional de La Rioja.
“"The participants will be accompanied by the young Cuarteto Cosmos, a musical ensemble that, despite its short professional career, already boasts important international awards."
The Deputy of Culture and Sports, África Colomo, highlighted the quality of the Cuarteto Cosmos during a media encounter, which also included the jury president, Albert Attenelle, and violinist Bernat Prat, spokesperson for the quartet. The semifinal round will be broadcast live on the Diputación's Youtube channel.
The competition commenced this Wednesday at 4:30 PM with performances by Alexandra Segal, Ayumu Ibaraki, and Ruggiero Fiorella. The final day of this semifinal will continue this Thursday with interpretations by Laura Ballestrino, Anaïs Cassiers, and Yusuke Suzuki. The pianists will have the opportunity to choose works by composers such as César Franck, Brahms, Schumann, Shostakovich, or Dvorak's Quintet No. 2 in A major, Opus 81.
