This triumph, achieved on matchday 25, is the first for the Jaén team in over three months, putting an end to a series of ten consecutive games without a win, during which they had only managed one draw and nine losses. Quique García's squad prevailed at the Guillermo Molina pavilion, earning three points that place them just one point away from escaping the relegation zone.
The match started in the best possible way for Avanza Jaén, with Giasson opening the scoring after 50 seconds. Although Unión África Ceutí managed to equalize in the ninth minute through Álex García, Joseliyo put the visitors ahead again in the 14th minute. The first half was full of chances, with Iván Gemes and Moñino close to extending or equalizing the score, respectively.
After the break, Víctor Arévalo equalized again for the home team in the 25th minute. However, Avanza Jaén's grit prevailed, and Luque, after a steal by Joseliyo, made it 2-3 in the 36th minute. The Jaén defense, led by Titín, was key to sealing the match with a goal from Giasson, and finally, Luque extended the score to 2-5 with an empty-net shot in the final seconds.
With these three golden points, Avanza Jaén remains second to last with 25 points, but moves within one point of safety, currently held by Sala 5 Martorell and Reyco Burela, both with 26 points. The team also extends Unión África Ceutí's losing streak to eight games without a win, leaving them in second to last place with 19 points. The next match for Avanza Jaén will be next Friday at 8:30 PM at the La Salobreja pavilion, where they will face Heredia 21 Málaga Ciudad Redonda, an aspiring promotion candidate.
