The Jaén municipality of Arjonilla has unveiled an innovative card game, titled 'Arjonilla, la Villa del Trovador Macías', designed for both residents and visitors to discover its rich history, traditions, and cultural heritage in an engaging way.

This didactic proposal, which allows for enjoyable knowledge acquisition, originated from an idea by a teacher at García Morente school, who began developing it with his students. The initiative, initially an educational activity, captured the interest of the municipal Culture Department, which decided to promote its production and dissemination.
The card game is dynamic, with quick rounds lasting approximately twenty minutes, and is designed for players aged seven and up. Its main objective is to showcase Arjonilla's most outstanding values through various thematic categories, including illustrious figures, gastronomy, heritage, and local crafts.
Among the featured characters are figures such as Antonio de Jaén, a filmmaker and radio announcer with a notable career in the audiovisual industry, and local painter Pepe Marchal. Additionally, homage is paid to anonymous residents who preserve traditional crafts at risk of disappearing, such as esparto grass work and palm weaving.
Gastronomy also holds a central place, with references to typical products and recipes like “Cristinas,” a traditional sweet similar to a muffin coated in sugar and cinnamon, and preparations linked to olive oil and traditional pastries.
In terms of heritage, the game invites players to explore emblematic sites such as the Castillo del Trovador Macías, a historical symbol of the municipality. Other essential points of interest included are the air-raid shelters from the Civil War and its museum collections, which cover everything from ceramic tradition to popular art and customs of this Magical Town of Spain.
Priced affordably at eight euros, the game is available in cultural spaces such as the local museum, offering an effective tool to bring the richness of Arjonilla closer to its inhabitants and visitors, demonstrating that heritage dissemination can also be a fun and educational experience.
