The province of Jaén is under a yellow alert from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) due to an episode of intense heat and the possibility of storms. Maximum temperatures could reach 40 degrees Celsius this Monday, June 29, and will remain high on Tuesday, June 30, although with a general decrease in the intensity of the warnings.
This Monday will be the most meteorologically complicated day. Alerts will be active between 1:00 PM and 8:59 PM in the province's four meteorological regions. The areas of Sierra Morena and El Condado, as well as the Guadalquivir Valley, will be under yellow alert for maximums that could reach 40 degrees, with a probability of occurrence between 40 and 70 percent.
On the other hand, the area of the capital and Montes de Jaén, and the Sierras of Cazorla and Segura, will also be under yellow alert, but in this case due to the probability of storms. In these areas, maximums of 39 degrees are also forecast.
Looking ahead to Tuesday, the forecast points to a slight improvement, although the heat will continue to be a significant factor in much of the province. AEMET maintains yellow alerts between 1:00 PM and 8:59 PM in Sierra Morena, El Condado, and the Guadalquivir Valley, with expected maximums of 38 degrees. The capital and the Sierras of Jaén and Cazorla will be outside the meteorological warnings for that day.
The update from the State Meteorological Agency places Jaén among the Andalusian provinces most affected by the heat, especially on Monday, when its four regions will be under yellow alert for significant risk.
