The political group has warned about the aging population, an "unquestionable" reality in Huelva, where nearly 20% of citizens are over 65 years old. This data, showing how the number of elderly already exceeds that of those under 16, demonstrates a "demographic change that administrations continue to fail to address with planning or real solutions".
Currently, the city has a "very limited" number of residences, with only one being fully public and having "barely 140 places". This situation means that most elderly people depend on private or subsidized centers, whose costs are, in many cases, "unaffordable" for families.
“"This lack of public places is generating long waiting lists and situations of genuine anguish for many families. We are talking about people who have built this society and who now cannot access dignified care if they do not have sufficient economic resources."
Given this problem, Vox proposes that the Huelva City Council cede land to the Junta de Andalucía for the construction of a new public residence. It also urges the regional government to "assume its responsibility by financing the project or providing the necessary resources to make it a reality".
The proposal also includes increasing the number of subsidized places in new private residences, as a "complementary measure to alleviate current pressure". The party concludes that "guaranteeing a dignified old age cannot depend on income level" and demands coordinated action from all administrations to solve this structural problem in Huelva.
