While other political parties suspended their events, Vox defended its decision to continue campaigning. The party's president, Santiago Abascal, participated in an event in Linares (Jaén), stating that true respect for the deceased agents, identified as Jerónimo and Germán, lies in promoting effective policies against drug trafficking.
“"Respect is not about raising silence and mourning; respect is about demanding policies that put an end to what cost Jerónimo and Germán their lives."
The Vox leader emphasized the need to protect members of the State Security Forces, lamenting their alleged defenselessness due to a lack of material resources and legal support. He proposed strong measures against drug trafficking mafias, including the possibility of sinking traffickers' boats that fail to comply with arrest orders.
“"We want the Civil Guards alive and the drug traffickers, if necessary, with their feet first."
Similarly, Manuel Gavira, Vox's candidate for the Presidency of the Junta de Andalucía, held the Government responsible for the agents' deaths, citing a failure to provide necessary means and protection. He labeled the Government as “traitorous” for exposing agents to extreme risk.
“"A traitorous Government, the government of Pedro Sánchez, that exposes them to losing their lives."
Gavira also defended the continuation of electoral activities, arguing that suspending the campaign under the guise of mourning was an attempt to silence the party. He insisted that with political will, the drug trafficking problem could be eradicated quickly, criticizing the inaction of other parties.
