The events unfolded in the early hours of April 7, when a man reported to police headquarters that he was being subjected to coercion. According to his testimony, two individuals exploited his vulnerable situation, stemming from an addiction, by supplying him with substances and then demanding payments far exceeding their actual value, often doubling or tripling the alleged debt.
Unable to meet the payments, the alleged extortionists escalated their threats, warning him that they would end his life imminently. The victim informed officers that the aggressors planned to visit his home within approximately two hours.
Given the seriousness of the situation and the immediate risk to the complainant's physical integrity, the National Police immediately activated a special operation. Plainclothes and uniformed officers participated, and their rapid coordination and deployment allowed them to locate and arrest the suspects before they could carry out their threats, thus ensuring the victim's safety and bringing them to justice.
“"Citizen cooperation and early reporting to authorities are essential for effective action and preventing more serious crimes."
The National Police emphasizes the importance of citizens reporting any threatening or coercive situations to the authorities, as timely intervention can prevent more severe consequences.
