The decision was made to "avoid any harm that the coincidence with the electoral reflection day could cause to the Corps." The association will soon communicate the new date and time for this tribute, which aims to be a "show of remembrance for the fallen officers and support for their families, colleagues, and the entire Civil Guard," maintaining its "sober, respectful, and intimate" character.
Habecu Huelva has reiterated its "sorrow for this tragic loss" and expressed its "recognition" for the "work carried out daily by the men and women of the Civil Guard in defense of security and coexistence." The association also thanked the "interest" and "support" shown by the public.
The events that prompted the tribute occurred on Friday, May 8, when two boats from the Provincial Maritime Service of the Huelva Command initiated a pursuit of a drug-trafficking boat approximately 80 nautical miles off the coast. During the pursuit, the two Civil Guard vessels collided for reasons still unknown, resulting in the deaths of two officers. One died instantly, and the other while being transported to the hospital.
Two other officers were injured in the collision and are receiving hospital treatment. According to the latest information, they are recovering favorably and are out of danger, having been transferred to a hospital ward, and in one case, back to the Huelva hospital.
The Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA) has opened proceedings regarding these events through the Instruction Section of the Huelva Court of Instruction.
