A total of 252 homes, spread across seven buildings with nine floors each, remained without electricity or potable water since Tuesday morning. The incident, registered on Severo Ochoa street in the La Orden neighborhood, extended for hours, exceeding initial expectations of a temporary fault.
Residents expressed their indignation at the slow response from Endesa. According to their accounts, the energy company provided several repair estimates that were repeatedly postponed, eventually indicating that the fault was due to a transformer. The situation became particularly difficult for residents with reduced mobility or those who are dependent.
Firefighters had to intervene after 7:00 PM to help two dependent individuals return to their homes, as they had been without access for over nine hours due to the elevator not functioning. The initial estimate for installing the new transformer suggested a minimum of four hours, which would have extended the outage until nearly midnight.
Another resident required urgent medical assistance as they relied on an oxygen tank, which could not be used without electricity. Fortunately, the prompt arrival of the tank averted a more serious outcome, although full normality had not been restored by late Tuesday.
