The operation began when the Civil Guard's COS Central Unit received a call reporting a possible dry grass fire in the exterior patio of an uninhabited chalet in El Rompido. Agents from the Civil Guard and the Local Police quickly responded to the scene to investigate the situation.
Upon arrival, officers had to jump the perimeter fence to access the property. They observed that the main access door had an additional reinforcing latch. Once inside the plot, the agents entered the house through a window.
Inside the house, officers detected a strong odor characteristic of marijuana, which led them to suspect the existence of a cannabis plantation. After an inspection, no one was found in the residence, but an indoor marijuana plantation was discovered in the basement, equipped with an irrigation system, air conditioners, pots, and fertilizers, all perfectly planned for cultivation.
Finally, the owner of the property was arrested for a crime against public health. Investigations are ongoing to determine if there are more individuals involved in this illicit activity. The detainee and the proceedings have been placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.
