The opening gala, held in the province of Huelva, marked the start of a schedule that will span throughout July and August. During this time, the Islantilla Active Center will host free open-air screenings, accessible to the general public.
In this edition, twelve feature films and one hundred short films from 27 different countries will compete for the Luna Awards. The official selection features works from nations including Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, France, and India, among others.
The opening ceremony included the presentation of the festival's highest honorary award, the 2026 Francisco Elías Award, given to a prominent film production professional in recognition of their career.
