The 'My Favorite Book' contest, promoted by the José Manuel Lara Foundation and the Cajasol Foundation, has celebrated its most successful edition to date, with record participation from schools in Andalusia, Ceuta, and Melilla. In the textual modality, over 160 centers submitted nearly 900 stories, while the podcast modality saw participation from more than 90 centers.
Alberto Pabón Sánchez, a 1st-year ESO student at IES Diego Angulo in Valverde del Camino, emerged as one of the overall winners in the textual category, recognized for his immersion in the work The Neverending Story. His submission, along with those of other young talents, was selected by a jury of professionals in education and children's and young adult literature.
As the main prize, Alberto Pabón Sánchez, along with two other outstanding students, will receive a scholarship to attend the School of Writers 2026, organized by the Andalusian Center for Letters in Mollina (Málaga). There, they will hone their literary techniques through workshops and meetings with prestigious authors.
The general director of the José Manuel Lara Foundation, Pablo Morillo Pérez, expressed pride in the high participation and the quality of the works, emphasizing the importance of books as tools for expression and understanding the world for young people. The deputy director of activities for the Cajasol Foundation, Gloria Ruiz Martín, reaffirmed both entities' commitment to education and culture as drivers of social transformation.
