The Jesús Hermida Communication Center in Huelva has opened an exhibition featuring 25 newspaper covers created by Primary Education students. These works are the result of educational workshops held during the school year, where young participants had the opportunity to experience journalism and create their own publications.
The exhibition, which will be open to the public until June 17th, includes creations from students of various schools in Huelva and its province. During the inauguration, the mayor of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, accompanied by students from Colegio Montessori and Colegio Reyes Católicos, congratulated the youngsters on their creativity and the high quality of the displayed works.
“"Your presence today and throughout the year brings life to this space and gives meaning to the objective for which this center was founded: to bring journalism and communication closer to society, especially to the youngest."
The mayor emphasized the importance of school participation at the center, highlighting how it brings journalism and communication closer to society, particularly for young people. She encouraged the schoolchildren to be proud of their creations.
The school workshops have become a key line of educational activity, with approximately 1,500 schoolchildren participating this academic year in initiatives aimed at fostering knowledge of journalism, communication, and critical thinking. The high demand from educational institutions reflects the success of this program in introducing the world of communication at an early age.
Notable activities include a newspaper creation workshop for Primary students, a 'fake news' workshop for Secondary and Baccalaureate students, a course on journalistic genres, and a public speaking workshop. The summer program will continue with these activities for organizations and summer camps.
