This tournament has become a fundamental showcase for emerging talent in Spanish basketball. In previous editions, the courts of Huelva capital, Aljaraque, Palos de la Frontera, and Punta Umbría have witnessed the development of players who now shine in high-level competitions, both national and international.
Among the names that have left their mark on the Huelva tournament are figures who have already reached the elite. One example is a player trained in the Real Madrid academy, who stood out in previous editions and has already debuted in the Liga ACB, in addition to having international basketball experience.
Likewise, a young interior player with great projection in Europe participated in the tournament with Valencia Basket and her autonomous community's national team. At just 19 years old, she was recently selected in the WNBA Draft and combines her growth with Valencia Basket and the Spanish senior national team.
Another talent linked to the championship is a center from Zaragoza, who was MVP of the 2023 Spanish Junior Championship and won a bronze medal with his team. Recently, he achieved a significant milestone in Spanish basketball by becoming the first national player to win the NCAA with the Michigan Wolverines.
In the women's category, a player from Madrid became champion of the tournament in 2024 with Movistar Estudiantes and was recognized as the best player of the U18 European Championship, where Spain claimed the continental title. After her time at an academy in Florida, she will continue her career at the University of Southern California.
The organization is confident that the 2026 edition will continue to serve as a springboard for new talents, solidifying Huelva as a national benchmark in youth basketball.
