Last Friday marked a significant milestone in the young history of the Asociación Cultural Cofrade Despojado del Amor in Huelva. The unveiling of María Santísima de la Concepción del Dulce Nombre, the corporation's new Marian image, brought together numerous devotees and association members at its headquarters on Aviador Ramón Franco street.
The artwork, created by Sevillian sculptor Ángel Luis Tejera, who is also commissioned to craft the association's future crucified Christ, was met with great enthusiasm. The delicate and expressive nature of the sorrowful image captivated attendees, who filled the venue throughout the afternoon.
“"This day is very special, as it fulfills a long-cherished dream after months of hard work and preparation."
The event not only celebrated the arrival of the new image but also strengthened the corporation's ties with the Matadero neighborhood, whose residents responded massively to the call. The presentation was attended by members of the Governing Board of the Asociación del Soberano Poder de Huelva and the Matadero Neighborhood Association.
A temporary altar, adorned with a carefully arranged floral display by the Romaní de San Juan del Puerto florist, added solemnity and elegance to the unveiling. The association is already engaged in its next heritage project: the creation of a Despojado Christ, to be named Nuestro Padre Jesús del Desamparo y Abandono, also commissioned to Ángel Luis Tejera. Through these initiatives, the entity aims to consolidate its devotional identity within the religious brotherhood landscape of Huelva.
