The Huelva Ibero-American Film Festival has opened the submission period for the competitive sections of its 52nd edition, which will take place from November 13 to 21, 2026, in the city of Huelva, offering significant awards.

The rules and regulations for participating in the competition are now available on the official website. Filmmakers have until July 31 to submit their productions, including feature films and short films of fiction, animation, or documentary, across various competitive sections. The organization plans to announce the selection of titles starting in September, maintaining the festival's usual schedule.
In the Official Section, films must be national premieres in Spain and will compete for the prestigious Golden Columbus for Best Film, an award endowed with 20,000 euros. This amount is distributed between producers and distributors, reinforcing support for the film industry.
The festival also maintains its structure with specific sections, such as Acento, focused on feature films with majority Spanish direction or production. This category will award the Acento Prize for Best Spanish Direction, worth 5,000 euros and decided by the public, highlighting its participatory nature.
Additionally, the Andalusian Talent section once again highlights creators from the autonomous community, recognizing the best proposals with a prize of 3,000 euros. This initiative reaffirms the festival's commitment to local creation and the visibility of cinema produced in Andalusia.
Short films continue to be a fundamental pillar of the festival, with competitive sections such as the Official National Short Film Section, which qualifies for the Goya Awards, and the Official Ibero-American International Section, along with spaces like Pantalla Huelva. This diverse program promotes both emerging talent and the international projection of the short film format.
With this call, the Huelva Festival consolidates its objective of being a driving force for film promotion at all levels, from regional to international, strengthening its role as one of the main showcases for Ibero-American cinema.
