The shipping company Fred. Olsen Express has reported an 11% increase in passengers on the connection between Huelva and the Canary archipelago during the start of the summer operation. This growth places the beginning of the high season at historic figures for the company.
This increase in travelers coincides with the comprehensive renovation of the vessel Buenavista Express, which operates this route. The ship, 172 meters long and capable of reaching 21.5 knots, has recently been modernized. It features improved common areas, dining facilities, and rest zones, along with services such as a swimming pool, solarium, arcade room, sports bar, coworking space, and high-speed Wi-Fi.
Onboard the Buenavista Express, a program of activities for all ages is offered, including choreography and dance workshops, body balance sessions, aquagym, zumba, and stretching, as well as treasure hunts and water games for children.
Juan Ignacio Liaño, the company's fleet director, highlighted that the travel proposition, combined with the advantages of maritime transport such as traveling with one's own vehicle, without luggage limitations, and with greater comfort for families and pets, has been key to achieving this record number of users.
Fred. Olsen Express has stated that it is working in coordination with port authorities to enhance the passenger experience, particularly at the Port of Huelva. The goal is for the experience to begin upon arrival at the port, utilizing the facilities and improving passenger comfort, including families, the elderly, and those requiring special attention.
The route connects the ports of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and Huelva in approximately 33 hours, offering various accommodation options.
