Despite the significance of the extraordinary regularization process for foreign nationals, the offices in Huelva have not registered large queues. Applications can be managed in person, by appointment, or online through the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration portal.
Most applicants seeking to regularize their status are already working in domestic service, hospitality, or the agricultural sector. Among them, a profile of single individuals is observed, mainly of sub-Saharan origin, engaged in agricultural work and with ongoing international protection applications. There are also Latin American and Moroccan families with minor children in their care.
“"For them, having their documentation means being able to acquire rights, which benefits everyone, because they will be able to work and contribute to social security."
Since the announcement of the process, a diocesan organization has been informing and assisting interested parties with the necessary documentation. Their legal team has scanned and reviewed documents, helped obtain consular appointments for criminal record certificates, and facilitated the translation of original documents.
The process, which began on April 16 and will run until June 30, requires applicants to prove their stay in Spain before January 1, 2026, and a continuous minimum stay of five months. Those who applied for international protection before that date or who are in an irregular situation but were already in Spain before January 1, 2026, can apply.
Additional requirements for those who have not applied for international protection include having worked or intending to work, having a family unit with minors or first-degree ascendants, or being in a vulnerable situation. It is essential to present a criminal record certificate or an equivalent document.
