The initiative, which has been running for 27 years, aims to provide children with a more favorable environment during the summer months, moving them away from the extreme temperatures and scarcity of resources that characterize the refugee camps in Algeria.
The reception took place in the vicinity of the Emilio Martín Ibero-American Athletics Stadium, where families from seventeen municipalities in the province awaited the arrival of the two buses. The event was attended by representatives of the Provincial Federation of Solidarity Associations with the Sahara of Huelva and local authorities.
“"The arrival is like Three Kings Day. It is a gift for us, which is probably more of a gift for us than it is for them."
During the months of July and August, the minors will live with their host families, participating in various recreational and refreshing activities. This project not only seeks to improve the children's quality of life but also to strengthen the emotional and cultural ties between Andalusian and Sahrawi families.
