More than 65% of municipalities in Huelva with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants have already completed the necessary documentation to apply for these subsidies, a figure expected to increase in the coming weeks.
One of the recent agreements was signed at the Manzanilla Town Hall between episcopal vicar Jaime J. Cano Gamero and mayor Francisco Javier Serrano, establishing a model for other participating councils.
This aid line addresses the need to preserve parish churches, buildings of significant historical, artistic, and heritage value, which often require costly and specific interventions difficult for parishes to fund alone.
“"An important support for the conservation of the religious heritage of our towns."
The episcopal vicar highlighted the annual financial effort by the Diocese of Huelva, exceeding three million euros between the Bishopric and parishes for property maintenance, though conservation needs remain higher, particularly for protected buildings.
This initiative strengthens collaboration between the Church and municipalities to preserve a heritage that belongs to everyone and aims to be cared for future generations, recognizing its historical, cultural, and identity value for the province of Huelva.
