The Cathedral of La Merced in Huelva hosted the main institutional ceremony, which marked the end of a three-day series of celebrations leading up to the imminent journey to the village of Almonte. For the fourth consecutive night, the sounds of drummers gathered brothers and devotees to participate in this solemn Eucharist.
The ceremony was attended by various authorities, including the mayor of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, members of the municipal corporation, the government sub-delegate, and the chief colonel of the Huelva Civil Guard Command, among others. Representatives from other brotherhoods in the capital were also present.
“"The joy of living these days in the context of the vigil of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which will culminate on Pentecost Monday."
The most anticipated moment of the day was the unveiling of the poster announcing the Rocío Pilgrimage 2026. The artwork, created using mixed media on paper by brother Rafael Septién Arenas, depicts an intimate scene of the Virgin of Rocío accompanied by two angels, with ornamental elements inspired by the silver carriage, the Simpecado, and the brotherhood's corporate colors. An ornate border incorporating symbols such as the royal crown and imperial herons completes the composition.
Before the singing of the Salve, the president of the brotherhood, highlighted the intensity of the days experienced in the cathedral and their importance as preparation for the imminent departure to El Rocío. He also acknowledged the hard work and commitment of all collaborators, noting these services as the last for the current governing board.
