A criminal network based in Almargen, Málaga, exploited women of Nicaraguan origin in domestic work, forcing them to be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, without holidays, vacations, or contracts. Victims were recruited in Nicaragua with the promise of work in Spain and had to pay 200 euros daily for accommodation while awaiting employment, in addition to a 5,000 euro debt.
The second dismantled organization operated in Alar del Rey, Palencia, exploiting male workers of Moroccan nationality in bakeries. These employees paid 15,000 euros for a work contract and endured 12-hour workdays without rest or vacations.
In total, 11 people have been arrested and two victims freed, with another 11 identified. The police operation was based on information obtained in previous interventions and has dismantled these networks operating under conditions close to slavery.
According to data from the Center for Intelligence against Terrorism and Organized Crime, human trafficking for labor exploitation surpassed sexual exploitation in victim numbers in 2025.
