Officers from the National Police have arrested a 38-year-old woman in the Albaicín, accused of an alleged crime of injury. The arrest occurred after the suspect stabbed a tourist at a viewpoint in this emblematic Granada neighborhood. The assailant, a Spanish national, has an extensive criminal record, accumulating nearly forty police antecedents.
The victim, a 57-year-old Korean woman, suffered an ankle injury and required medical attention at a hospital. The events took place around 11:30 AM, when a patrol was alerted to a knife attack at one of the neighborhood's viewpoints, a popular spot for visitors.
According to the police report, the tourist was enjoying a visit to the city with her husband, taking photos of the Alhambra. At that moment, an unknown woman approached the couple and, without a word, pulled out a knife and stabbed the tourist in the ankle before fleeing the scene on foot.
The police investigation led to the identification of the assailant thanks to data collected at the scene and an image of the suspect walking away from the viewpoint. The following day, around 7:00 PM, the same police unit located her in an Albaicín square, wearing the same clothes as in the photograph. After her arrest, she was taken to police facilities and placed at the disposal of the judicial authority.
This incident has caused concern in one of Granada's most visited areas, especially in the Albaicín viewpoints. Authorities maintain surveillance operations in these spaces to prevent crimes and ensure the safety of tourists and residents.
