This initiative, promoted by the Junta de Andalucía, aims to provide the town with the necessary infrastructure for the adequate treatment of its wastewater.
The works included the construction of nearly three kilometers of pipelines and the installation of a pumping station capable of impelling 10.8 cubic meters per hour. The EDAR has facilities that can treat over 377 cubic meters per day.
Furthermore, the Governing Council has been informed about the status of Andalusian reservoirs, which are at 81.31% of their total capacity, holding 9,696 cubic hectometers (hm3). This volume represents a decrease of 158 hm3 compared to the previous week, but is significantly higher than data from 2025 and the decade's average.
The hydrographic basins in Andalusia show variations: the Guadalquivir basin is at 81% with 6,509 hm3, showing an increase compared to the previous year and the decadal average. The Mediterranean Andalusian Basins are at 75.35% with 862 hm3, also with more water than last week and the average. The Guadalete-Barbate demarcation holds 1,377 hm3 (84.53%), with a notable year-on-year and decadal increase. Finally, Tinto-Odiel-Piedras-Chanza registers 948 hm3 (85.02%), exceeding the 2025 figures and the average of the last eight years.
