The incident occurred around 2:00 PM in the loading and unloading area of the complex. According to the Armilla City Council, the leak was caused by human error during the handling of a pallet containing several chlorine drums, which tipped over accidentally.
As a preventive measure, authorities evacuated customers and employees from the building. While no serious injuries or chemical burns were reported, some individuals experienced minor discomfort, such as headaches, due to gas inhalation.
The event directly impacted local transport. The nearest Metro station remained closed until 6:00 PM, during which time trains terminated their route at the Parque Tecnológico de la Salud station, preventing access to the Armilla terminal while firefighters completed safety operations.
