This initiative, following a successful debut, aims to become a monthly event fostering connections between agroecological production, the university community, and the general public. The Ecomarket is part of the 'Living Lab' Granada Tierra Viva, a project developed within the framework of the European program Soilcrates and coordinated by Medialab UGR, under the Vice-Rectorate for Social Innovation, Employability and Entrepreneurship.
In collaboration with the Granada Agroecological Network, the project continues to advance its goal of transforming local food systems, promoting more sustainable, healthy, and territorially connected models, as reported by the UGR. More than just a market, the UGR Ecomarket is conceived as a dynamic space for exchange, learning, and relationship-building, bridging the gap between producers and consumers and fostering trust for a more conscious food culture.
The participation of small-scale producers from the province ensures the availability of seasonal, local, and agroecologically grown foods. This edition highlights the university's role as an active agent in the transition towards more sustainable models, aligning knowledge, research, and action with the real needs of the region. The Ecomarket thus stands as a practical tool for social innovation, where many of the work lines promoted by Impronta Granada, such as connecting various actors, generating impact, and building shared solutions, are materialized.
During the event, starting at 09:30 AM, attendees will be able to explore the various stalls, meet the food producers firsthand, and discover local initiatives related to agroecology, social economy, and responsible consumption. The UGR Ecomarket continues its journey with a commitment to permanence, aiming to transform the University Walkways into a regular meeting point where the university and the territory can interact, dialogue, and build a shared future.
