A student from the University of Cádiz (UCA) has been crowned the Spanish university champion in adapted swimming. This achievement came after securing the gold medal in the 50-meter butterfly event during the 2026 Spanish University Championships (CEU), which took place from April 10 to 12 at the University of Granada.
The competition, organized by the University of Granada, brought together 275 athletes from 43 Spanish universities, establishing itself as one of the most significant university sports events nationwide. The swimmer was the sole representative from the UCA in the adapted swimming category.
Throughout the championship, the athlete participated in four events: 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter breaststroke, 200-meter individual medley, and 50-meter butterfly. It was in the latter where he achieved his best performance, climbing to the top of the podium and securing the national university title.
This victory adds another milestone to the swimmer's distinguished sports career within the university sphere. In previous editions of the national championships, he had already earned gold medals in events such as the 50-meter backstroke and 200-meter individual medley, demonstrating his consistency and excellence in the discipline.
The participation and results obtained reinforce the presence of the University of Cádiz in national university competitions and consolidate the athlete's promising career in adapted swimming within the academic environment.
