A total of 31 professionals, including doctors and nursing and psychology staff, have begun their specialized training in the Southern Health Management Area (AGS) of Granada. The welcome event took place at the Santa Ana Hospital in Motril, where they were received by the province's health authorities.
These residents will complete their training in seven key specialties: Family and Community Medicine, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Mental Health, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery, and Anesthesiology and Resuscitation. The training offer for 2026 includes 20 positions for Family and Community Medicine, 3 for Obstetrics and Gynecology, 3 for Mental Health, 2 for Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery, and 1 position each for Internal Medicine, General Surgery, and Anesthesiology and Resuscitation.

The territorial delegate for Health, Indalecio Sánchez-Montesinos, presided over the event alongside the manager of AGS Sur Granada, Maximiliano Ocete. Both highlighted the area's quality of teaching and staff commitment. Ocete emphasized the "close and familiar" treatment and the "outstanding qualification and experience" that residents will gain.

The medical director, Guadalupe Pino, and the director of Nursing, Elena Morales, also congratulated the new residents, stressing the importance of teamwork and patient-centered care. The head of studies, Ana Ortega, encouraged residents to "absorb all the knowledge" available.
The AGS Sur de Granada, a teaching center since 1992, serves approximately 140,000 inhabitants of the Costa Tropical and the Alpujarra region. Currently, 88 professionals are undertaking their residency under the supervision of 54 tutors.
