The province of Granada has endured a day of intense wind gusts, exceeding 50 kilometers per hour, which has generated numerous incidents. Since 6:30 PM, the Emergencias 112 service has handled around twenty calls, primarily concentrated in the capital and its Metropolitan Area.
One of the most significant events occurred in the Gran Capitán area, where a woman, an employee of a nearby health center, was injured when a branch fell on her head. Her colleagues immediately transported her to Traumatology, though her current condition has not been specified.
In addition to this incident, the winds have caused awnings to fall and, notably, trees to topple in various locations. On Avenida de la Constitución, a fallen tree partially obstructed traffic. Similar situations were reported in Plaza Trinidad, Avenida Madrid, and Cuesta de la Escoriaza, near the Los Ángeles hotel.
The Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife has once again limited access to several areas of the monumental complex and has activated its level 1 wind protocol, a measure it had already implemented this Thursday for the same reasons.
The Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife has responded to the situation by activating its level 1 wind protocol, which has involved restricting pedestrian access to areas such as Cuesta del Rey Chico, Paseos de la Alameda, and Bosque de Gomérez, as well as the Jardín de los Adarves and the Jardines Altos del Generalife. These preventive measures aim to avoid incidents like the one in October 2025, when three Dutch tourists were injured by a falling branch.
Adding to these phenomena is the persistence of calima, which since Thursday has tinted Granada's sky a brownish hue, accompanied by muddy rain. Aemet's forecasts indicate that, although maximum temperatures could reach 30 degrees Celsius, they will drop to around 20 degrees Celsius by Saturday, with calima and muddy rain still present.
